A winch out is when our truck uses a steel cable or synthetic line to slowly pull a stuck vehicle back onto pavement or firm ground. The truck stays on solid ground and does the pulling, so your car doesn’t have to dig itself out.
Is a Winch Out the Same as a Tow?

1. Set Up Safely
We park on solid ground and turn on our warning lights. You stay in a safe spot, away from traffic and away from the cable.
2. Look Over the Situation
We check how deep the car sits, what’s under it, and the angle of the pull.
3. Find the Right Attachment Point
We hook up to the recovery point or the frame. We never use a bumper, suspension part, or tie down hook. Nissan’s owner’s manual, for example, warns not to use the tie down hook to free a car stuck in snow, mud, or sand (Nissan).
4. Use a Snatch Block If Needed
When the pull is at an angle, a pulley lets us change direction and pull straighter, with less strain on your car.
5. Pull Slowly
