Let Miller’s Towing Hook You Up!

Need towing in College Hill or Eastborough right now? Call Miller’s Towing & Recovery at 316-351-4754. Give the dispatcher the nearest corner, like Douglas and Oliver or Central and Hillside, what you drive, and where the car needs to go. You get the price before we hook up.

These two east side areas sit side by side along Douglas, but they are not the same place. College Hill is a Wichita neighborhood. Eastborough is its own city. That difference matters when a car needs to be moved.

The Two Areas at a Glance

6 Things to Know About Towing in College Hill and Eastborough

1. Name the corner

The streets here run in a tight grid with short blocks. “On Douglas near the park” is good. “Douglas and Clifton, facing east, in front of Clifton Square” is better. In Eastborough the streets curve, so give the house number or the nearest cross street.

2. Eastborough is its own city with its own rules

Eastborough was incorporated in 1937 and still runs its own city government and police. If you have a crash there, the officer who responds may not be from the Wichita Police Department, and Wichita’s tow policy does not automatically apply. Ask the officer how a tow request works. You can still tell them which company you want.

Drive slowly on the way in. Eastborough has long been known for its low speed limits. Its stretch of Douglas has been posted at 20 mph, lower than the Wichita blocks on either side, and the town has no sidewalks, so people walk in the street. Those details are from the Eastborough entry on Wikipedia. Watch for the posted signs.

3. Old houses mean tight driveways

Most College Hill homes were built between 1900 and the mid 1930s, long before today’s trucks and SUVs. Expect narrow driveways, garages set at the back of the lot, alleys and low tree limbs. A car that will not start at the end of a long driveway may need a winch and skates to bring it out to the street before it can be loaded. Tell us where the car sits and how much room is around it.

4. The Kellogg ramps need extra care

Kellogg forms the south edge of both areas, with exits at Hillside, Oliver, Edgemoor and Woodlawn. Traffic comes off those ramps fast. If you break down on Kellogg or a ramp, stay buckled in with your hazard lights on, and call 911 if you are in a lane. Kansas drivers must move over or slow down for any stopped vehicle with flashing lights. KAKE covered that change to the Move Over law in 2025.

5. Street parking has a clock

Many College Hill homes rely on street parking. The City of Wichita’s parking FAQ says it is illegal to park a vehicle on the street for more than 48 hours under Municipal Code Section 11.97.010(b)(1). A car that died at the curb needs to move before that clock runs out. Eastborough sets its own parking rules, so check with its city office.

6. Parking garages limit the truck

A car that will not start inside a hospital or office parking garage is a different job from one at the curb. Ceiling height decides which truck fits. Tell dispatch the garage, the level and the nearest stairwell or elevator sign.
